SO referred by their JCP work coach to the Forging Futures programme, (funded by the Youth Futures Foundation) in November 2023.
SO joined us with little confidence, low self esteem, very timid and was suffering from low health, including diabetes. SO has attended many workshops run through CYA; including First Aid, Confident Communication, Healthy Eating, Presentation of self and Interview Skills, SO has also attended Employer Encounter Q&As at CYA to meet potential employers and learn more about different career pathways. She has taken part Kaifer – scaffold the world.
SO is now studying for her Level 1 in Maths and Level 2 in English through Adult learning. SO also attends a weekly session called Pitstop run through NADT. She is now volunteering at a Shelter charity shop, one - two days a week. Her confidence has blossomed, and feels she has a purpose to get out of bed, is more able to communicate more effectively and developing many skills along the way. SO says her overall health has improved. She now has the confidence to approach potential employers and hand out her CV’s, she has attended interviews with more confidence and enthusiasm.
SO says she would not have been able to take up these sessions / workshops without the help and guidance given by CYA, and thanks to CYA for helping her increase her confidence and self esteem.
