Types of Volunteering 

Fundraising: 

Fundraise for us! fundraising is a great way to support the young people of Cumbria we work with. Our dedicated team will support you with your fundraising efforts no matter how big or small. 


Be a youth work volunteer: 

Many agencies across the county are seeking volunteers who could give up on night a week to help run local youth clubs for young people in the community – training will be given and help to find the right agency for you – 2 hours per week 


Be a trustee: 

A range of agencies in Cumbria are currently seeking Trustees who have the relevant skills and knowledge go help them run the agencies that support young people – training will be given and help to find a suitable agency in which to volunteer – normal commitment would be 12-15 hours per year


Mentoring:

Cumbria Youth Alliance: have a programme supporting young people who are in the care system -enabling them to access on line learning modules that will help them make a successful transition into independent living when they reach 18. Mentors help them with the on line modules and give them moral support and the young people earn money for their ISA with every module they complete – 2 hours per month – full training will be given and an opportunity to undertake a mentoring qualification 


Positive Role Model

Can you help? Are you interested in helping a young person in your local community? This project is open to anyone looking to support young people in Cumbria. Positive Role Model volunteers will:

  • Have appropriate and up to date training
  • Undertake Cumbria Safeguarding Children Partnership safeguarding training
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of schools, local authorities and other voluntary and statutory agencies
  • Have sufficient knowledge of special educational needs, ACEs, emotional wellbeing (including self-harm and suicide alertness), and health and social care structures, including Early Help
